According to Edward's Corsini Encyclopedia of Psychology and Behavioral Science, Titchener's "Outline of Psychology provided rules for introspectionists to follow:

(a) one must be unbiased
(b) one must have complete control and not allow one's attention to wander

(d) one must feel well, be of good temper, and be interested in the experience being introspected
